A Unique Art Form

A UNIQUE ARTFORM

2 DAY COLLAGRAPH WORKSHOP AT BENALLA ART GALLERY

AUG 17TH & 24TH 10 AM-3 PM

What a wonderful two days working and sharing my methods with enthusiastic and talented artists, exploring the unique art form of printmaking known as Collagraphy.  Collagraphy enables the artist to collage materials onto a substrate and experiment with relief and intaglio printmaking methods on the same plate.

Over the two days, each participant made three reference plates and two 15cm x 15cm plates of their own design. They understood how shellac shows tone and can be used as a guide when inking the plates for printing. The reference plates enabled them to explore tone, texture, and depth of colour, which they could then refer to as they constructed the plates of their own design.

Everyone was thrilled with the prints they produced and all left the workshop with a greater understanding of how to continue this art form from their own workspace.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Fleur at the Benalla Art Gallery for her exceptional organisation of the workshop and her continuous support. I am also grateful to the gallery for providing such a wonderful workspace for all of us to work in. Your support has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
