Karen Brown

Karen Brown is an artist based in Albury, NSW, on the banks of the beautiful Murray River.

She is inspired by the ordinary, the obvious and the overlooked. Her realistic and detailed artworks encourage you to look closely at your environment and be amazed at the tiny details in everyday objects, both natural and man-made.

Karen has worked in many mediums—acrylics, watercolour, oils, pastels, inks, printmaking, and sculpture—but her passion is drawing. Using graphite pencils, fine-liner pens, or coloured pencils, she creates drawings that appear almost photographic, inviting you to study them closer and appreciate the textures and colours of our world.

In recent years, Karen has begun holding workshops, along with private tutoring, to teach coloured pencil techniques to others. She hopes to develop an interest in, and change the perception of, coloured pencils amongst the arts and wider community.

Her works hang in both public and private collections.
