Are you a hobby artist, emerging artist, or professional artist looking for an exhibition space or about to take the next step toward your artistic dream?

Art Gallery on Ovens offers a professional gallery space featuring professional lighting and hanging systems, creating a stunning space to showcase artworks from all disciplines.

The gallery was freshly renovated in September 2019, with polished concrete and timber floors, high ceilings, and beautiful lighting.

Our featured black wall is a favourite of artists, bringing all works to life and offering our visitors a fresh perspective of how a work may look in their home.

We encourage all artists to become GUEST ARTISTS in our vibrant exhibition program

BECOMING A GUEST ARTIST

Guest Artists are artists in the community or region that can apply to have a solo or group exhibition in the Main Gallery at Art Gallery on Ovens.

Artists can be at any stage in their artistic career whether professional or emerging.

Interested artists will need to fill in an application and submit images of their work for consideration. Preferred dates for your exhibition can be selected from the available dates listed on the Exhibition Program.

Interested Artists are advised to carefully read the following Terms and Conditions.

Points that need to be noted are:

  • Guest Artists can select either a one or two-week exhibition.

  • The fee of $200 per week is used directly to cover part rental of the gallery in that week.

  • The 20% commission on sales is used to cover part of the utilities for that week.

A reminder that our gallery is a community-run, non-profit space requiring us all to pay for these costs individually and we all volunteer our time to facilitate the running of the gallery.

  • Guest Artists are required to ‘man’ the gallery during their exhibition. This involves running the gallery with the expectation that the gallery is open during our set business hours – Thursday, Friday 10am-4pm, Saturday, Sunday 10am-2pm, Monday 10am-4pm.

Art Gallery on Ovens is also proud to offer mentoring to artists who are ready to take the next step with their art practice. You may not have had a solo exhibition before and feel daunted by the process and we would be delighted to help and guide you.

Our mentoring program will assist artists through all aspects of the gallery experience. This will include how to create your invitation, how to transport your work, curate the hanging, take you through the gallery’s daily procedures, how to organise your opening, and as well as offering moral support during the exhibition process.

For further information please go to our Mentor Program page.
