Art Gallery on Ovens is committed to helping young artists in our region through our Young Artist Mentorship Program.

Each year applications will open in September inviting candidates to apply to join our gallery for the following year as a Resident Artist. The position will be sponsored in part or fully, depending on funding available each year.

​

The Program is based on the Gallery’s mission of enabling art experiences for all.

​

In particular:

​

• It aims to recognise the importance of nurturing a young artist in their artistic practice.
   

• It provides a place of community connection and engagement in order to contribute to the cultural growth and development of a young artist, forming a sense of connection, belonging and affirmation of the value of artistic endeavours into the future.
   

• It endeavours to develop and support a young artist as they create and develop a body of work in an individual art practice, and enable them to have the confidence to exhibit their work to the public and understand the workings of a professional gallery.
