Joan Mullarvey is featured artist at Benalla Art Gallery.

‘UNFOLDING LANDSCAPES’

featuring works that are inspired by the rhythms and patterns of North Eastern Victoria by Joan Mullarvey, resident artist at Art Gallery on Ovens.

I was thrilled to be selected as a guest artist in the Gallery Shop – Benalla Art Gallery throughout the month of June. A part of the new program to better promote and support local and regional artists and to showcase their work.

I exhibited a collection of my small collagraphs, lino and mono prints. As part of the selection process, it was decided that I give an artist talk to explain my history and creative practice.

Both the exhibition and artist talk were very successful, and participants were able to enjoy the experience of seeing and handling my textural, almost 3D collagraph plates. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with me whilst viewing my work. The feedback and questions about my printmaking process after the talk was very rewarding.

It’s a credit to Director, Eric Nash and his team at the gallery to have created this opportunity for local artists and their support throughout the entire process was readily and freely given.
